Phoebe was born May 21, 2002. Her dam is
Noel.
Phoebe was tragically attacked by another
dog at a "doggy daycare center".
Her right eye was punctured. She has lost
all vision in the eye and it has "shrunk"
back into her head. The daycare center
owner was grossly negligent as she had
left the dogs loose unattended in a playroom
while she attended customers elsewhere
at the facility.
I am posting these pictures (taken 11 months
after the attack) as a warning for all
those who use or are thinking of using
a doggy daycare center. Please, do your
research! Make sure someone is in attendance
of the dogs at all times, and that more
than one person works the center.
This daycare supposedly screened all dogs
for temperment before admitting them,
but I found out later that the owner would
let "borderline" dogs in because
she needed the clients money. She does
not know which dog attacked mine since
she was not present, but "suspected"
one dog since it had been growling and
grouchy towards other dogs for weeks before
the attack. Even after the attack, this
"suspected" dog was allowed
to stay at the daycare center, loose in
the main playroom.
So, let Phoebe's scarred little face be
a warning for all. Daycares can be a wonderful
thing for your dog…or it can ruin
him. The daycare operator is the key and
it's the owner's responsibility to investigate
and make sure it's run properly.
To date, neither the daycare owner nor
her insurance company have paid a single
dime towards Phoebe's vet bills or the
damage done to her.
