Pagan is really taking off in her career in the ring and we have
been blessed to take some wonderful pictures of her performing.
This page is both a demonstration of some of the activities in the
ring for those unfamiliar with show events, as well as a showcase
of Pagan's talent for those who are experienced in the show arena.

This picture shows how Pagan has to stand
still while the judge looks at the set
of the teeth and examines her mouth and
face.

|
It is important to get the dog to "put on a happy face" for
the judge. This is known as expression and shows the judge
the dog's personality and stature through the face.

Pagan shows beautiful movement through the ring as the judge
has her run around so he can see all sides while she is in
motion. The way a dog carries itself is a very important aspect
of its quality in the ring. The gait is established by finding
the perfect speed to showcase the movement of the dog.

|
Of course there are those moments when
you don't have the dog's entire attention
on the activity at hand. Even Pagan's
interest wanes as the judge examines other
dogs. It is important to keep your dog
looking her best during the entire process
in case the judge refers back to her.

|
The judge keeps the dogs lined up when they are not in motion
so that he can quickly look over the entire group to make
comparisons. It can be hard for the dog to stay focused during
the lengthy line up but Pagan is a pro and keeps herself looking
good.

|
One of the most strenuous aspect of ring
life is the "stack". The dog's feet
are placed in a certain position and their
head and tail are held by the handler
to optimize the side view of the dog.
This position becomes second nature for
experienced show dogs.
